MIND BODY SOUL

COMPASSION

JUST FOR TODAY… MAYBE ALL DAYS… LET US REMEMBER EVERY PERSON WE ENCOUNTER TODAY IS MISSING SOMEONE. MAY BE AN AUNT, UNCLE, PET, COUSIN, EVERYONE I KNOW IS MISSING SOMEONE THEY LOVE. SOMETHING TO KEEP IN HEART AT THE GROCERY STORE, DURING POLITCAL ELECTIONS ( CLEAR MY THROAT ) AND ALL DAYS. SOMETIMES I WISH WE ALL HAD T SHIRTS ON THAT SAID EVERYTHING WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH IN LIFE… I FEEL AS THOUGH A LOT MORE COMPASSION WOULD BE GIVEN IF A PERSON SAW A SHIRT THAT SAID “ THIS IS MY FIRST CHRISTMAS WITHOUT MY SON “ INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON POLITICS OR ANY OTHER FORM OF DIVISION. YOU MAY BE NEXT TO A NURSE IN LINE WHO WORK AN OVERNIGHT SHIFT. WE JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE GOING THROUGH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. AS AN INVITATION PRACTICE COMPASSION TODAY, OH AND LET US REMEMBER SELF COMPASSION AS WELL. WON LOVE, NAMASTE

Balancing Exercise with Other Forms of Self-Care

Fitness is one of the most important parts of your self-care regimen. Not only can it help benefit your physical strength and overall stamina, but it can also improve your mental health, as well.  However, it is easy to put too much reliance on your workout routine, to the point of neglecting the other parts of self-care. Here are some ways you can structure your workout to allow for other parts of self-care while still getting the exercise you need.

The Importance of Other Forms of Self-Care

If you are looking to be a well-rounded and healthy person, exercise is critical. Staying physically fit helps to improve your energy, ability to rebound quickly from a cold, and decreases the risk of a large number of adverse health conditions later in life. It can also even make it easier for you to follow other parts of a self-care routine; for instance, exercising several hours before bedtime makes it easier for you to be able to fall asleep and stay asleep for the entire night while improving your chances of getting a deep, high-quality rest. However, your schedule may limit the time you have for the other aspects of self-care, like taking breaks throughout the day and preparing healthy meals for yourself. If your workout routine takes up the bulk of your free time to the exclusion of all else, it may be time to adjust your schedule.

Take Time for Other Forms of Self-Care

Some forms of self-care, like taking breaks throughout the day and saying no to projects to avoid getting overloaded, can be taken care of throughout the workday. However, you should still make time once you’re home to indulge in pure relaxation. This looks different for each person -- some people may find relaxation through hobbies, like knitting or playing music.  Others, meanwhile, may require a dark room specialized for meditation and relaxation. (You can use a guest room or even your bedroom as a meditation room; the location doesn’t matter so much as the environment.) Be sure to leave enough time for sleep at the end of the day. By taking time to ease your mind, you’ll reduce your stress levels and become healthier overall.

How Much Time Do You Have for Self-Care?

In order to construct the best possible routine, you need to have a clear understanding of your current schedule. There are 24 hours in a day. Of those 24, how many hours do you spend out of work? Subtract those hours from the total, as well as the time for your commute and seven to eight hours of sleeping time. If you are like many people, you’ll end up with fewer than seven hours remaining. Somehow, in all of that time, you have to fit in your exercise routine (and the commute to the gym, if you are a member), plus meals, family time, and your social life. This can become stressful if you don’t approach it the right way. Try to limit your time at the gym to an hour or less. Most experts say that between half an hour and an hour of physical activity is recommended for an overall healthy lifestyle. That way, you’ll still leaving time for other things.

Keep in mind that it is not a bad thing that you are working out regularly -- on the contrary, it is closely tied to your overall health. However, other parts of self-care are just as important. By adjusting the amount of time you spend in the gym to allow for other forms of self-care, you will be helping yourself become more balanced and healthy overall.

Kombucha Tea

Greetings Beautiful Being,

Welcome to “Tina Talks Tuesday”, I hope this finds you wonderful and well! With cool weather approching it is important to be mindful of self care and overall wellness. Over the next few blogs I will be sharing a few wellness staples that work for me, that may also work for you.

The first to chat about is Kombucha. A weekly staple that helps boost the health of our house. Kombucha is a fermented tea that has been consumed for thousands of years. Here’s a List of some the Health Benefits:

  • Rich Source of Probiotics

  • May Provide the Benefits of Green Tea

  • Can kill Bacteria

  • May Reduce Heart Disease

  • Contains Antioxidants

    Just to name a few.

I encourage you to do your own research and try out Kombucha for yourself. Many people believe that kombucha helps treat all sorts of chronic health problems, and although human studies on the effects of kombucha are few and the evidence for its health effects limited...I am a tried and true believer of this wondrous elixir. Enjoy ~ Stay Well~ Peace

As always comments, topic ideas, and “hello there”’s are always welcomed and highly favored. Thanks for stopping by! <3

SPLENDID SUPERFOOD SMOOTHIE

Greetings beautiful beings! Welcome back to Tina Talks Tuesday!

Tonight I am going to share with you all a lovely smoothie recipe a friend shared with me (Shoutout to Blazin’ Bonnie Ryder)! Drinking a smoothie in the morning alongside your hearty breakfast (eggs, oatmeal, whole grain toast with nut butter) can really help kick-start your day! Smoothies provide us with energy in the morning and get our digestive systems moving! This specific recipe contains the following SUPERFOODS: blueberries, raspberries, and lemons!

  1. Blueberries contain tons dietary fiber, which help keep your digestion regular and your heart happy! Additionally, they are great for your skin! And don’t forget- it’s still blueberry season! Yay!! We are so blessed to live in an area where we can pick our own FRESH blueberries! Make a trip to a local farm for some summertime blueberry picking before the season is over! Personally, I went to the sugar shack farm in Penn Yan!
  2. Raspberries are anti-inflammatory and also can increase your metabolism!
  3. Lemons are packed in vitamin C and help boost your immune system!

Alongside these AMAZING ingredients, I like to add in spirulina powder, hemp seeds, and chia seeds! I encourage all of you to add your own flare to this recipe! Please leave a comment if you find an ingredient that works well for you. I would love to try it myself!

SPLENDID SUPERFOOD SMOOTHIE

  • 2 cups of blueberries (preferably fresh)
  • 2 cups red raspberries
  • 2 whole lemons
  • 1 cup H2O
  • 1 cup ice

Blend and Enjoy!

"Finger Lakes Connected"

Good Evening Beautiful Beings,

Welcome back to "Tina Talks Tuesday", I hope summer is treating you kind! Our nations Independence Day was celebrated last week as many of you know, and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and embraced a moment of silence.

I was inspired by an "FLC Edition" I recently read so asked the author, who also happens to be a beautiful friend of mine if I could share her wisdom. Although the "4th of July" has come and gone I hope these words will speak to you, as they are still with me today:

This Independence Day, the sunset is inspiring me to think about Freedom. It can mean many things to different people, but today I wish everyone freedom from their thoughts. Sometimes our minds can get the best of us and compulsive thinking prevents us from living in the moment. Sometimes we are stuck thinking about something that has already passed or we are proccupied with worry about something that hasn't even happened yet. Either way, we have let our thoughts rob us of the greatest gift we have- THE PRESENT! This happens to the best of us and awareness is the key to catch ourselves in the act while it's happening (or shortly after). We can get better and better at liberating ourselves from our thoughts and just focus on the most basic of tasks - JUST BEING! Let it go and be free. What good is living in a free country, if we are imprisoning ourselves day to day? Happy Independence Day! And remember every sunset is a chance to reflect and realize tomorrow is a brand new day! Ahhhhhh!
Blue Skies,
Donna Bennett

Date Night

Good Morning Beautiful Beings,

Welcome back to "Tina Talks Tuesday" on Wednesday morning! I hope all is well and you are enjoying the start to your summer. :)

Today's post is simply a reminder that it's okay and important to have spontaneous "date nights". This presents to be a challenge for many relations due to "adulting" responsibilities. Working all day, household duties, kids, workout commitments, second job, gardening, family obligations, etc. can push "date nights" onto the back burner.

Relationships need time and attention. Fortunately, you can enrich and nurture yours by simply making a commitment to having regular date nights with your other half. Whether you go all out to make your date nights fun and invigorating or just leisurely run errands without the kids, regularly sharing time as a couple can be an enjoyable, rewarding part of a happy, healthy YOU!

I will lead by example and share that a date night was long overdue in my world so yesterday I made no excuses and enjoyed a beautiful hike at a local park, wine tasting, and a peaceful plant based dinner at "New York Kitchen", Yum! It was just what my other half and I needed to unwind, reconnect and just be. I encourage you to do the same, tonight's full moon will set the mood for a well deserved walk along the  lake, dinner on a deck, or picnic under the stars. Your future self is already thanking you ~ Enjoy!

As always "date night" ideas, suggestions, and comments are welcomed and highly favored! Click the post title for an added "Full Moon"reading. ;)  One Love!

Father's Day Love

Good Evening Beautiful Beings,

Welcome back to "Tina Talks Tuesday". I hope this finds you warm, well, and outside enjoying this beautiful weather we are having here in the finger lakes.

Today's blog is a piggyback off of my lovely daughters post from a few weeks ago for Mother's day.  As most of you probably know Father's Day is approaching this Sunday, June 17th. If you are a father figure reading this, thank you for being present and making a difference in somebody's life. If you are reading this and you have a male figure in your life, whether it be your dad, grandfather, uncle, coach, friend, etc., be sure to tell him how much he means to you, and spend some quality time with him!

As Kyra mentioned in her blog post you don't have to stress about what to buy him, instead go out and do something with him that you both love! You could go to a local car show, go fishing, go for a hike, cook him a homemade meal, or a sweet treat...they say "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!" ;) The possibilities are endless!

He will value the time spent with you more than any material item! Enjoy this upcoming Father's day celebrating with that special guy who inspires and motivates you!

Happy Father's Day to all the great guys out there! Sending you all love, relaxation, and day filled with all the joy you deserve!

The Blue Zone Project

Hello Beautiful Being,

Welcome back to Tina Talks Tuesday, it's always great to see you here and I'm always grateful to be here! I hope you have been enjoying Mother Natures gifts of vibrant flowers, warm rays, and fresh air...ahhhh!

I was intrigued and inspired a few weeks ago at a networking event on "The Blue Zone Project". As I mingled, thought to myself, soaked in the concepts, and sipped my red wine I kept getting the same message, "SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN"! So that is what I am here to do today.

So what's this about?

"The Blue Zones Project is inspired by Dan Buettner, a National Geographic fellow and New York Times best-selling author who identified five regions of the world — Blue Zones — with the highest concentration of people living to 100 years or older.
They include Loma Linda, California; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Sardinia, Italy; Ikaria, Greece; and Okinawa, Japan.
The Blue Zones Project uses information collected from these regions to help transform communities into thriving places to live, work, eat and play. Blue Zones staff works with communities to help them improve everything from work sites to parks to stores to streets to schools, all to promote the highest level of health and well-being." -MPNnow

I found it to be very exciting that Ontario "county could be first spot in the Northeast to employ the secrets of living longer." Mother's Day Love: Ft. Guest Blogger

DAILY REMINDER: GIVE SOMEONE A FREE HUG TODAY!

Hello American muscle community, it’s Sparkling Kyra! Surprise! If you don’t already know, I am Tina’s eldest daughter. As you all know (hopefully), Mother’s Day is approaching this Sunday! Many times, people worry about what they should buy their moms for this holiday. This year, rather than buying your mom a gift, I would like to encourage you all to go out and do something with her that you both love! You could go to the lake, go hiking, take her out to eat, go to painting class, or go to a cooking class together. The possibilities are endless! I think that spending time with your mom is the best gift that you can give her. I truly appreciate the time I spend with my mom, especially after being away from her while I was in Florida for the past 8 months. One of my mom’s presents from me this Mother’s Day is writing her blog tonight. Instead of working on Tina Talks, she will be able to watch a movie with our family tonight!

This Mother’s Day, be sure to tell your mom how much she means to you, and spend some quality time with her! I’m sure she will value the time spent with you more than any material item! And if you don’t have a mom, spend time with someone who inspires and motivates you! Remember: Mother’s Day is a holiday to celebrate with any positive female figure in your life, not just your mom! To all the moms and strong women reading this blog, I hope you take time this week to spend time with the women in your life that you love and cherish!💓

"Less Texting. More Living."

Hello there Beautiful Beings,

Wonderful to see you here once again, I hope life is treating you well!

Inspiration is all around if you take the time to look. For me inspiration presents in many ways everyday by multiple things. Such as: Reading an article. Watching the sunset. Waking up in a cozy, warm bed. Hearing kids voices. Getting a hand written "loving reminder" note. And, many many other simple, yet wondrous happenings buzzing around me.

A month or so back, while sitting in a waiting room I made the concession decision to leave my phone in my purse and spark up a conversation with a simple smile and hello to the woman sitting next to me. We ended up having such a nice chat that still sticks with me, and it really did make my day much brighter. After that encounter I made a pledge with myself that from now on, while in waiting rooms, standing in a line, etc. I will always try to make this same choice and see where it takes me.

I have attached an article that goes along with this concept of "being present" , that also inspired me, and I hope it will speak to you or maybe someone you know as well! (click post title)

The Universe

Hello there Beautiful Beings,

I hope tonight's "Tina Talks Tuesday" finds you warm and well! <3 The Universe sent me an email today, yes you heard me, an email, lol...and I want to forward it to all of you. :)

  The email goes like this:

"Aha! Do you know what your thoughts did last week?!
They became the things and events of this week. The things you thought would be difficult became difficult; easy became easy; boring became boring; and fun became fun. Where you thought there might be surprises, you were surprised. And where you thought there might be land mines, there were land mines.
Bravo! You can add this week to the list of your most creative accomplishments.
Now, can you guess what your thoughts this week are going to do?
You are awesome,  The Universe"

I hope this speaks to you as deeply as it did to me. Keep the good vibes flowin, creativity growin, and unconditional love glowin'!!!  As always, comments, suggestions, thoughts, and howdy's are always welcome & highly favored! One Love.

30 Min. Healthy Meal

Hello there Beautiful Beings,

I hope you all are wonderful, wealthy and well! I like to think that health equals wealth, which leads me to tonight's blog topic  in which I will share a simple saucy recipe.

This is a weekly staple in our household for the simple fact that it's quick, healthy, and liked by most of the kids. ;)  (If need be puree/hide the veggies  into the sauce) Also, in my opinion it has an added bonus of being vegan and gluten free...yippee!!! Below I will post a "generic" recipe, meaning it can be tweaked to your liking with your fav brands.

Gluten -Free Vegan-Sauce Capellini
  • 1 box~ Jovial Capellini, Brown Rice, Gluten Free, 100% Organic Whole Grain (this is our personal fav)
  • enough to saute with~ Healthy oil of choice (EVOO, grape seed, avocado)  or Vegetable broth
  • 3-5 cups of chopped fresh veggies~ I typically use mushrooms, spinach, peppers. onions. garlic, tomatoes
  • Optional "beefless ground" ~ when we do opt for this we like "Gardein" brand (however, I try to limit soy products, this is one)
  • 2 jars organic sauce of choice~ we like Wegmans brand "Grandma's Pomodoro Sauce" or Aldi's brand tomato basil
  • Optional Hemp seeds to "sprinkle" (or a handful) on top (protein)
  • Optional Nutritional Yeast (vegan parm cheese) to sprinkle on top (no handfuls here)
Okay I think that's it. Just cook pasta per package directions. Saute all veggies until tender, then add sauce, and simmer 15 min...stirring occasionally. Serve sauce over pasta, garnished with seeds and "vegan parm", and we like to have Wegmans Organic Rosemary fresh baked sourdough bread with Earth-balance organic spread. Nom-Nom...Enjoy! <3

Thanks for visiting today, please give this a try and drop a comment, recipe, review, topic, or simple howdy below. As always all are welcomed & highly favored~ One Love! Until next time..."Pasta La Vista Baby"!

Awakening

Good evening lovely beings,

I hope you all are having a fabulous February thus far, and are surrounded by love and more love!

A beautiful Poem was shared with me recently so I thought I would spread the inspiration and love!  "Poetry is finer and more Philosophical than History; for Poetry expresses the Universal, and History only the Particular." ~Aristotel

Awakening
By Krista Rodzinka

The little maple seed fluttered helplessly to the ground,
Carried by the strong and unyielding wind,
Flowing gracefully in the direction of gravity’s course,
Taking root amongst gravel and stone.
Continue.
Plunge your roots deep into the rocky soil.
Grow and stretch until you reach the fertile ground.
Soak in the sun and feed your soul, sprouting and spreading your tender leaves.
Make your trunk sturdy and strong, able to bend, not break.
Continue.
Let your rough skin shimmer in the glow of the harvest moon.
Let the rains cleanse your spirit.
Let your leaves wave a gentle hello to all who pass.
Let life flow through your veins.
Continue.

Thank you Krista, your passion, pureness, and beauty is inspirational and admirable! Hopefully this and all the beauty in each day will spark something inside of you, like this poem did for me. Happy "LOVE" day tomorrow and every day after that!!!
